Energy efficiency announcement
February 4, 2022
Over the past few months, we have all become aware of the sharp increase in energy bills due to the energy price cap increase. So much so that the Government has set out an ‘energy bills rebate’ package that includes a one-off council tax rebate of £150 to all households in bands A to D and an up-front discount of £200 in energy bills that will then be repayable in five annual £40 instalments. The energy price cap hike will come into force from April 1st and affect an expected 22 million households, with further increases expected next winter. Ofgem has announced that the energy price cap will rise by 54% as of April 1st, 2022.
Understandably, and among other rising living costs, this has caused panic amongst homeowners and billpayers around the country, which is why it is vital that the homes of the future are as energy efficient as possible to try and combat this.
Our current two developments in Witchford and Pershore, and all WElink homes, will have photovoltaic panels integrated into the roof space, double-glazed windows, energy-efficient lighting, high insulation levels throughout, and be A-rated on energy performance.
At WElink, we are dedicated to providing homes that reduce energy and give homeowners more tools to manage their energy consumption better so we can meet the nation’s energy needs in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way. We are passionate about the positive contribution of renewable energy to combat climate change while diversifying our planet away from fossil fuels.
